After communicating with the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce, we regrettably announce the Camden Fireworks display will not be offered on July 4th or 5th this year. The fireworks company has confirmed, due to the potential rain, they cannot launch them from the barge in Camden Harbor on Friday. They also cannot launch them from the barge on Saturday due to anticipated sea conditions. At this time, all other activities will continue as planned.
The Camden Yacht Club Dingy Parade is Friday 4th of July in Camden, 9:30am. The community children go out on little sailboats in the inner harbor all decorated for the Fourth. My daughter, Hope, dresses like George Washington. God Bless America!
I will write about the wonderful Camden Yacht Club dingy parade and add some pictures, but first I want to share some fourth of July history that I learned this evening. I was googling about Elijah Glover, the ship builder that built this Inn and I found out that he was not only a ship builder but a sea captain. More interesting than that, there is documentation that there was a family wedding here on the 4th of July 1854, the same year he finished building the house. I find great joy in this news, because it further proves to me that this house was always great for hosting groups of people and sharing wonderful moments.
The children dress in red, white and blue and set out on their dingys, turn abouts and optys. They wave their American flags, blew their wistles and yell happy 4th of July. All of this takes place in Camden Harbor. Parade is rain or shine. It probally is the cutest thing you can witness.

5:00-6:15pm: Reina del Cid – A spirited folk rock group from Minneapolis
7:30- 9:00pm: David Dodson and the Lowdown, featuring John and Rachel Nicolas – Our headliner, local musician and singer songwriter David Dodson, has shared the stage with some of the nation’s best artists. He and his band will lead us up to Camden’s spectacular fireworks celebration.
