Amongst the hills and harbors of the Maine Coast, there are farms. Farms on the Maine Coast have a wide variety of produce. There are beef farms, apple orchards, wineries, flowers, blueberry fields and vegetable farms scattered along the coastline. When you are in town, enjoy the fruit of the coastal land. When in Maine – do as the Maine -ah’s do, eat fiddleheads, organic grass fed meat, drink MOO Milk, enjoy 11 different types of squash and for desert have some watermelon and cantaloupe.

aldermereFrom Farm to Table trip idea:

Wake up and enjoy a organic and natural breakfast at Windward House. Windward House uses local organic eggs and meat from Main Street Meat. Local vegan options use the local soy products that are made in the nearby town of Belfast.  After breakfast, walk over to the Farmer’s Market at the Knox Mill on Washington Street, downtown Camden Maine and see local vegetables, flowers, jams and crafts. The farmers market has 32 vendors with items ranging from lobster and seafood to mushrooms and cheese. After visiting the local Farmer’s market, hop on your bicycle and head out on the “Most Beautiful Walk” route through Camden and Rockport. You will pass by Aldermere Farm where you will see the famous Belted Galloway cows. You might want to stop at Laite Beach to get your feet wet and cool down. If need more of a workout, bike up to the Camden Dahlia Farm and enjoy the flowers. Then head back to Windward House were you can enjoy a locally made wine and prepare for dinner at Primo in Owls Head Maine. By far the best organic restaurant in Mid Coast Maine. Go early so you can walk around the grounds and see the gardens.
