The Food Pantry and Fuel assistance fundraiser conceived by the Historic Inns of Rockland is very admirable. In the dead of winter these 4 Inns work together to help those in need. Within the last 10 years this event has grown from just a house and food tour to a full downtown business event raising almost $75,000 for food and fuel. The business community contributes to the success of the event by adding venues for the pies. January 26th 2014 from 1-4pm the venues will be open and serve lots and lots of pie. Tickets are $25.00 for adults and $10.00 for children. There is trolley service between the venues. If you cannot stay at one of the 4 Inns in Rockland, plan to stay in Camden Maine. The best B&B in Maine, Camden Windward House, has a local organic menu that has lots of Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free option.

I noticed that the pies on Parade menu has lots of savory, sweet and some low glycemic options, but there were no vegan options. Making a pie vegan can be a challenge. Here are some links of Kristi’s favorite Vegan Pie recipes:
