A TOAST TO MIDCOAST MAINE
Let the vino flow

Known as a food destination, the Midcoast Region is also a great place for tasting wine.  A good place to start is Cellardoor Vineyard, a boutique winery located in Lincolnville, where visitors are invited to free tours and tastings. The newly remodeled barn built in the late 18th century boasts an impressive tasting bar stocked with their 17 wines.  Prince Valiant, a Bordeaux and Syrah blend is their biggest, driest red with Queen Anne’s Lace, a white blend of Vidal and Riesling, a customer favorite. Take in the breathtaking views, wander through the 68  acres of fields, break for a picnic and relish in the experience.  Cellardoor Vineyard has a small on site market, or guests can bring goodies from Megunticook Market in Camden or The Market Basket in Rockport.  For special occasions and advance requests from groups they will even oblige with a barrel tasting.  On October 18, 2008 visitors to the vineyard are in for a stomping good time at Cellardoor’s annual Romp and Stomp a community wide event, which if not a little messy, is a lot of fun with live music and hot air balloon rides. www.mainewine.com
